Creating a Quality Education for Every Child in Every Community

Chicago Public Schools is committed to providing all children with access to a world-class education in their own community so they can graduate from high school both college and career ready.

Not enough schools are meeting the academic needs of our students. Far too many underperforming schools are not preparing our children for college and career, while achievement gaps continue to widen for African American and Latino students. CPS is committed to put each student's academic achievement and safety above all else to ensure that every child has access to a high quality education in every community.

2011-2012 School Actions

Chicago Public Schools officials approved school actions that focus on providing students from among the district's lowest performing schools with access to higher quality school options and making significant investments to help boost their academic development. These 20 school actions will help fulfill the district's mission to increase student academic achievement and graduate them ready for college and career.

Review the documents the District has provided to families along with information about the schools in which CPS is taking action. In addition, the transition reports include greater detail about the current state of these schools.
