Alberto A. Carrero, Jr.

Alberto A. Carrero, Jr. is President of CBSS USA, a firm which provides financial, operational, and business consulting expertise and services.

 

Mr. Carrero, Jr. is currently a Board Member of the Chicago Board of Education where he is serving his second 4-year term.  First appointed by Mayor Richard M. Daley in September 2002, his appointment was renewed in 2006.  Additionally, the Board of Education, at its Regular meeting of October 2002, Mr. Carrero was also appointed to serve as a Board Trustee to the Chicago Teachers’ Pension Fund.  Prior to his appointment to the Chicago Board of Education, he served three years as a member of the City Colleges of Chicago Board of Trustees.

 

Mr. Carrero retired from Banco Popular North America at the end of 2008, after a 21-year rewarding career which allowed him to hold a variety of executive positions in several different states in the U.S.  His most recent position was Senior Vice President of the Public Banking Division.  Banco Popular North America is the country's largest Hispanic-owned bank.  Prior to joining Banco Popular, Mr. Carrero also worked for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) in the New York Region.

 

He graduated from the University of Puerto Rico with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Finance.  His affiliations include membership in the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO); Financial Committee Member, Institute of Puerto Rican Art and Culture; and membership in various Chambers of Commerce in the Chicagoland area.

 

Mr. Carrero has been the recipient of numerous awards from a variety of New York and Illinois State and local agencies for Excellence in Business.
