Clare Muñana 

Clare Munana

 

Clare Muñana is President of Ancora Associates, a management consulting firm. She has completed both domestic and international engagements for not-for-profit, public and private sector clients in the U.S., Europe, Africa and Latin America.

 

Ms. Muñana previously served as the Executive Director of a public sector financial management consulting group in Chicago, assisting Chicago government agencies in designing and implementing plans for significant financial and management improvements. Her portfolio included over 15 projects at City Hall, staffed by more than 50 loaned executives from Chicago businesses. In this capacity, Ms. Muñana worked closely with the Mayor of Chicago and his management team. Projects ranged from broad organizational assessments to process redesign and hands-on, operational implementation.

 

Mayor Richard M. Daley appointed her a Member of the Chicago Board of Education on July 1, 1999 and re-appointed her in 2002 to a four-year term. The Board Members, at its meeting in July 2004, then elected her Vice President of the Board of Education of the City of Chicago.

 

Ms. Muñana is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Boston College, where she received a BA in Political Science and Spanish Literature. She received a MA in International Economics and Politics, with honors, from the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) of Johns Hopkins University. She earned a MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University. She also completed a certification program at the Sorbonne-University of Paris, in French Civilization and Language.

 

Ms. Muñana speaks Spanish and French, and has experience working in both languages. She also has good comprehension of Italian and Portuguese.

 

Ms. Muñana is active on several boards and civic organizations including the Aspen Institute, the Chicago Public Education Fund, and the National Museum of Mexican Arts. She is a recipient of the Chicago United 2005 Business Leaders of Color Award and a recipient of the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University 2007 Schaffner Award.
