Charter School Public Hearing

A public hearing will be held to receive comments on the proposed change in Education Management Organization for the following Chicago International Charter School Campuses:

· Chicago International Charter School – Avalon/South Shore Campus

· Chicago International Charter School – Bucktown Campus

· Chicago International Charter School – Prairie Campus

· Chicago International Charter School – Washington Park Campus

· Chicago International Charter School – West Belden Campus

The hearing will be held on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 from 4:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. at the CPS Board Chambers, 5th Floor, 125 S. Clark Street, Chicago, IL 60603. All persons interested in speaking should sign-up between 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Speakers will have two minutes to speak and will be called in the order in which they sign up. The hearing will conclude at 5:30 p.m. or after the last speaker, whichever comes first.

Anyone who would like to provide written comments may submit them to the Office of New Schools, 125 S. Clark Street, 5th Floor, or call 773.553.1530. Tele-Town Hall for CPS Parents

CPS parents are invited to join JC Brizard on Wednesday, Dec. 21, at 6:30 p.m., for an hour-long discussion about the series of actions CPS has proposed to create higher performing school options for children currently attending some of the lowest performing schools in the district. This tele-townhall is a part of an ongoing effort to seek feedback from parents and guardians about important issues affecting the district, such as these proposals. A brief introduction will be followed by a Q&A session.

Public Hearing - Holiday Waiver

A Public Hearing prior to the Regular Board Meeting will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 28, 2012.

Chicago Public Schools seeks a holiday waiver to allow for classes, parent-teacher conferences, teacher in-services or teacher institutes on Columbus Day and Casmir Pulaski Day. The persons honored by the holiday will be recognized through instructional activities conducted on that day or, if the day is not used for student attendance, on the first school day preceding or following that day. Testimony from educators, parents and members of the public about the proposed holiday waiver will be taken during the public hearing.

Speaker registration will occur between 8:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. The Public Participation portion of the Public Hearing will conclude after the last person who has signed in to speak has spoken, or at 9:30 a.m. whichever occurs first.
