CPS Right Now!The new television program CPS Right Now! can be seen daily on Channel 49 at 5 and 6:30 p.m. It features stories on recent student competitions, ethnic festivals at schools, after-school programs, dance performances, marching bands, special guests and more. Short segments, including Shout Outs, will profile students and teachers. “CPS Right Now! is an exciting new way for us to educate and inform Chicagoans about the variety of opportunities and programs available throughout the district, and to showcase the amazing talents of our dedicated teachers and students,” said Arne Duncan, CPS Chief Executive Officer. Each new 30-minute program will air for two weeks on Channel 49 everyday at 5 and 6:30 p.m. Chicago Works on Channel 23 will also air portions of the program throughout the day. Seven episodes are scheduled for the spring season while a full 21-episode season is scheduled for the 2006-2007 school year. Episode 5 Premiered on December 7th. If you missed it, don’t worry you can catch it again every day at those same times. A new episode debuts every 2 weeks on Thursdays. We find out why Jones College Prep is such a special school. So special they received the 2006 No Child Left Behind - Blue Ribbon Award. We also see what goes on After School, it’s not just detention anymore, find out some of the amazing things kids can get involved with when the school day ends. And last we discover a program that shows parents how to improve their family trips to the City’s Museums by making them more fun and but still educational. Contribute your own story ideas for upcoming segments In addition, CPS also produces The Chicago Board of Education Monthly Meeting that can be seen every Saturday on Cable Access Network television (CAN-TV), channel 21.
