Business is the key ally in the effort to improve our schools. By connecting the work world to the
classroom, we’re building a bridge to our children’s future.

-   Richard M. Daley , Mayor of the City of Chicago

Mission/Goals

The mission of the Department of External Resources and Partnerships is to garner resources for Chicago Public Schools in the form of money, materials, and volunteers in order to improve student achievement and strengthen and expand educational opportunities.

About Us

The External Resources group focuses on developing and designing projects in order to obtain competitive grant dollars to support the educational needs of the CEO’s Office, Chief Education Office, Departmental Offices and individual schools. Successful grant applications are awarded to the Chicago Public Schools or the Children First Fund, the Chicago Public Schools charitable foundation. The Partnerships group encourages contributions of time, money and talent for CPS by creating school and citywide partnerships with corporations, organizations and individuals through the Futures Exchange program, Principal for a Day, Volunteer efforts and donations of Free Things.
