CPS students participate in Safe Haven Safe Holiday event

‘Stop the Violence’ is culminating message of Safe Haven Safe Holiday program

Winter break program allowed for students to participate in activities to keep them safe and off the street during winter break.

Last month some 600 elementary and high school students participated in the culminating event of the Safe Haven Safe Holiday program with artistic performances based on a theme of “Stop the violence, Stop the silence.”

Students worked on their performances during winter break. Students developed music, dance and poetry routines at 24 churches throughout the city. Each group had seven minutes to perform. The event took place at Doolittle Elementary School, 521 East 35th St., on Dec. 30, 2009.
