Selective Enrollment applicants not to be penalized for absences

Academic Enhancement revisits attendance procedures

CPS to consider the extenuating circumstances involving school absences affected by the swine virus.

As a result of the recent health concerns related to swine influenza (H1N1), Academic Enhancement is prepared to consider the extenuating circumstances involving school absences affected by the H1N1 virus.

The health of our students remains a top priority and parents and students should ensure that all recommended health precautions and safeguards are followed.

Academic Enhancement, which manages the Selective Enrollment application process, is fully aware of the issues this raises regarding student absences and the Selective Enrollment point system.

We are currently revisiting our attendance procedures to ensure that they are both sensitive and reasonable with regard to student health and excused absences.

Students will not be penalized for missed attendance, with the proper medical documentation to support the absences.

Any questions regarding these concerns may be directed to Academic Enhancement at (773) 553-2060.
