Press Release

CPS teachers provide valuable feedback on new evaluation design

November 27, 2011

Last spring, CPS and The Chicago Public Education Fund partnered in the execution of a broad teacher outreach initiative in order to have teachers help to design a fair and effective evaluation on the front end of this process. Teachers provided a great deal of constructive feedback, which is summarized in the reports below.

CPS is committed to addressing teachers’ desire for more frequent and detailed feedback, more constructive dialogue about performance, and targeted support to ensure CPS’s professional educators at all levels can continually improve their practice and help build student achievement. We will leverage the feedback we received, along with knowledge of best practices in other districts, to develop an enhanced evaluation structure in partnership with the Chicago Teachers’ Union (CTU). As we are developing this system in the coming months, we will continue to seek the valuable input of our teachers and principals.
