Volunteers “build” backpacks for CPS students

Back-to-school backpacks

Harper High School students to receive 700 backpacks full of school supplies.

Harper High School students, 6520 S. Wood St., will receive backpacks full of school supplies when they arrive at their desks on Sept. 2.

The backpacks were made available through the Direct Effect Charities “Build a Backpack” program.

Direct Effect Charities and a group from Crate and Barrel will put a backpack on each Harper student’s desk, between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m., on the first day of school, Sept. 2. Another company will provide the other 700 backpacks needed for Harper, for a total of 1,400, to be delivered Sept. 2.
