Chicago Prep Bowl celebrates 75 years

Lakefront tradition marks 75 years

Top teams face off in annual game.

The Chicago Prep Bowl, the city’s annual game between its top public and catholic league schools, will take place beginning at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 28, 2008, at Soldier Field. CPS' Lane Tech will play Loyola Academy in this year's big game.

Tickets cost $5 and will be sold at the gate.

The Chicago Prep Bowl marks a special anniversary this year. Festivities surrounding the traditional Public League-Catholic League matchup will feature All-Decade football teams dating back more than 70 years.

This year’s honorees will include the 2008 Chicago Public League and 2008 Chicago Metropolitan Catholic League Prep Bowl teams. Honorees also include: the 1958 Austin High School and 1958 Fenwick High School football teams; and the 1983 Simeon High School and 1983 Mt. Carmel High School football teams.

To celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Prep Bowl, CPS is also recognizing All-Decade Football Teams. They include:
