CHICAGO – Chicago Public Schools (CPS) announced today that the November meeting of the Chicago Board of Education will be held at George Westinghouse College Prep instead of its usual location at CPS headquarters. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2014, at 4:30 PM.
“I am pleased we will be holding our November Board meeting at Westinghouse, allowing community members who are not normally able to attend our downtown meetings to participate at a Board meeting in their neighborhood,” said Chicago Board of Education President David Vitale. “Public involvement is vital to the success and wellbeing of CPS, and our monthly Board meetings are an important venue for the public to interact with Board Members and District leadership.”
The Board of Education’s monthly meetings are typically held in the Board Chambers at CPS Headquarters, which is currently located at 125 S. Clark St. The meeting at Westinghouse will be the first off-site monthly Board meeting since February 2004 when the meeting was held at Orr Academy High School.
Westinghouse College Prep is located at 3223 W. Franklin Blvd., Chicago, IL 60624. Registration for public participation and observation will be done in accordance with the Board’s standard process and will open on Nov. 10, 2014, at 8:00 AM through the Board of Education’s website at www.cpsboe.org.
Media interested in attending will be required to present valid media credentials in accordance with Board policy.
Chicago Public Schools serves 396,000 students in 665 schools. It is the nation’s third-largest school district.
