Overview
All schools are encouraged to participate in the CPS Academic Olympics competition. They consist of the following categories:
- Speech Arts (Oratorical Declamation)
- Mathematics
- Essay (Persuasive/Expository, Narrative) for intermediate (4-6) and upper (7-8) grades
- Academic Bowl for upper (7-8) grades only
Goals
- Highlight the core curriculum and develop students’ academic competencies in major content areas
- Foster and develop student pro-social behavior
- Further develop student self-esteem

Resources
Each Area Office will announce the date and location for competitions. Area Offices will assess a $50 fee for each participating school. The money collected is used for contestants' awards and other competition expenses.
