Academic Olympics 

Overview

All schools are encouraged to participate in the CPS Academic Olympics competition. They consist of the following categories:

 

  • Speech Arts (Oratorical Declamation)
  • Mathematics
  • Essay (Persuasive/Expository, Narrative) for intermediate (4-6) and upper (7-8) grades
  • Academic Bowl for upper (7-8) grades only

 Goals

  • Highlight the core curriculum and develop students’ academic competencies in major content areas
  • Foster and develop student pro-social behavior
  • Further develop student self-esteem

Program benefits

  • Improve reading and math scores
  • Ensure parental involvement 

Resources

Each Area Office will announce the date and location for competitions. Area Offices will assess a $50 fee for each participating school. The money collected is used for contestants' awards and other competition expenses.
