Reading List: Grade 7 - 8

Students in grades 7-8 are now able to understand and discuss what they’ve read through writing or oratory practice. In this age group students are expanding their vocabulary and reading a variety of works – ranging from books about literature to technology to history to even sports.

You can help your child continue to develop his or her reading skills by encouraging your child to read stories that spark his or her interest. This teaches your child the invaluable lesson that reading can be fun regardless of the topic.

Summer is a great time to begin developing reading rituals for your child. Instead of watching TV, have your child take 30 minutes out of every day to sit down and read one of our recommended books.  Most of these books are available at your local public library for free. To check out any of these all you need to have is a library card . Click on the links below to learn more about each book or download the  2009 summer reading list.
