Regional Gifted Centers 

There are 13 Regional Gifted Centers designed to provide appropriate services for children identified as gifted. Three of the Regional Gifted Centers are designed to meet the needs of high-ability students whose primary language is Polish, Russian, or Spanish. For most Regional Gifted Centers, transportation is provided to students who live at least 1.5 miles from the school. Three centers—Carnegie, Coonley, and South Loop—provide transportation to students who live within designated street ranges. Apply now.

Goals

  • Provide students with the opportunity to earn up to four credits toward high school placement in selected courses
  • Expose students to world language or Latin, laboratory science, computer science and fine arts

Program benefits

  • A differentiated, enriched curriculum allows for skill development appropriate for the gifted student’s abilities and interests
