Dual Language Immersion Program (Spanish) 

Overview

Within the Dual-Language Immersion program, students can become proficient in two languages. English-speaking students  learn and improve their English skills and receive Spanish instruction. Spanish-speaking students learn and improve their skills in Spanish and receive English instruction.

Goals

  • Develop high levels of proficiency in the first and second language
  • Perform at or above grade level in academic areas in both languages
  • Demonstrate positive cross-cultural attitudes and behaviors

Program Benefits

  • Provide a learning environment that develops bilingualism, bi-literacy, and cultural understanding among English language learners and native English speakers
  • Offer unique opportunities for participating students to develop two languages

  • A lending library consisting of a variety of resources and instructional materials
  • Information on community services in the native languages represented in CPS
  • Workshops on parenting skills, gang and drug  prevention, CPS policies and practices, and more
