Assessment Calendars
Assessments at CPS are used to provide teachers insight into how best to plan instruction, as well as to inform district and/or State accountability. The documents below summarize which assessments are optional, which are required, and the cadence for testing throughout the school year depending on grade level. Brief overviews of the purpose of each assessment are also provided.
Assessments
The CPS Assessment system contains 3 major types of assessments across all grades: Baseline to understand where students start the year, Formative to monitor progress over the course of the year, and Growth to measure progress by the end of the year. To better understand the specific assessments and how they are used, please see the attached slides.
