An application may be required for some CPS schools and programs. There are some schools that have their own applications such as charter schools. If you are interested in those schools, you will need to contact the school directly to obtain an application.
Students with disabilities are encouraged to apply to any school including those that require testing. If accommodations for testing are required, as indicated in the student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or 504 Plan, please contact the Office of Specialized Services at 773-553-1800.
Remember: an application is not required if the student plans to attend his or her neighborhood school.
Complete the Standard application
- The
Standard application can be used for any schools or programs that list the “Standard application” under Admissions on their profile.
- If you wish to receive a notification from the school once your application has been received, please include a self-addressed, stamped postcard. Be sure to write the name of the school on the card. If your card is not returned within two weeks (after submission of the application), please contact the school.
- To apply to more than one school, copy the applications as needed and submit one application per student, per school.
Please note: acceptance is not guaranteed upon submission of an application. You are encouraged to apply to all of the schools that interest you. There is no limit to the number of schools to which you may apply.
- The
Standard application can be used for students applying to schools that are outside of their attendance area and students applying for the Majority-to-Minority transfer program. It is also available in
Spanish.
- The Standard application does not apply to Charter schools, Regional Gifted Centers, Academic Centers, Classical schools, or the International Baccalaureate Preparatory Program.
Otherwise, if applicable, complete and submit the Gifted and Enriched Academic Program Application (GEAP).
The Gifted and Enriched Academic Program and admissions process is open to any student interested in attending a CPS Regional Gifted Center, Classical school, Regional Gifted Centers for English Language Learners, sixth through eighth grade International Baccalaureate Program, and/or the seventh through eighth grade Academic Centers.
Detailed instructions are provided on the GEAP application, which is available in both
English and
Spanish.
