Letter from CEO Barbara Byrd-Bennett
Dear Parents, Guardians and Caregivers,
I am excited to share with you the School Progress Report for your child’s school. All families want to ensure their children are prepared to succeed academically in a safe, caring environment. The School Progress Report is a powerful tool that you can use to better understand what this looks like at your school. This report shows how the school is doing as a whole. It is not the same as the report card you will get for your child.
One concept that I hope you take away from this year’s report is the idea of student growth. CPS rates schools on both how students are performing on standardized tests (student performance) and the growth the students make between the beginning and end of the year on those tests (student growth). Too often the dialogue about school quality is only about student performance.
