Amundsen challenges students to reach their full potential with a rigorous academic program. College preparedness is of primary importance. Amundsen offers the IB Diploma and MYP Programs. Amundsen also offers the Smaller Learning Communities Initiative: The Global Village, Jorndt Urban Mentorship Program (JUMP), and 9th-grade students are all part of the Freshman Academy.

Statistics Demographics As of 2012-2013, there were 1338 students enrolled at AMUNDSEN HS. 92.5% were low income Students. 14% were Special Education Students. 12.6% were Limited English Learners. As of 2012-2013, the largest demographic at AMUNDSEN HS was Hispanic. As of that time, this demographic made up 64.9% of the student population. The second greatest demographic was Asian at 14.6%.
