Overview

Foreman High School has served the city's Northwest Side since 1933. Students at Foreman have the opportunity to enroll in one of five Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs which provide industry-focused training along with academic instruction, and virtual high school classes. The school collaborates with Columbia College and community businesses to recruit students for the federally funded Upward Bound Program. Recent achievements include gold and silver medals in the All City Art contest for commercial art students; fourth place in city drill competition for the Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (JROTC) team; awards in the State History Fair; and city championships for boys soccer and boys cross country. Other special programs include Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID), Honors, and Advanced Placement (AP) classes.

Our mission at Foreman High School is to prepare all of our students for postsecondary learning and/or entrance into the work force by focusing on the following key competencies: basic skills, foundation skills, communication skills, applied skills, adaptability, group effectiveness, leadership, personal management, and attitude.

As of 2008-2009, there were 1931 students enrolled at Foreman HS. 92.0% were low income Students. 14.7% were Special Education Students. 12.1% were Limited English Learners. As of 2008-2009, the largest demographic at Foreman HS was Hispanic. As of that time, this demographic made up 77.3% of the student population. The second greatest demographic was Black at 17.1%.
