Overview

Hyde Park Academy is an outstanding educational and cultural institution that has served generations of families in the Woodlawn/ Hyde Park communities for over a century. Located near Jackson Park, the lakefront and University of Chicago, Hyde Park students are global learners. The curriculum is designed to meet the dynamic needs of our student population with an emphasis on inquiry, leadership skills and international awareness. With our International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years and Diploma Programme, Hyde Park offers academically accelerated students opportunities to engage in over 25 Honors, Advanced Placement (AP) and/or IB courses. Our Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program uses proven teaching methodology and resources to serve college-bound students. Annually seniors earn over $2.5M in scholarships. Hyde Park provides a vast array of elective offerings.

Founded in 1863, Hyde Park Career Academy High School is known as one of the oldest and most dynamic high schools in Chicago. We are home to many celebrities, politicians, athletes, educators, entertainers, writers, and social activists alums. We are proud to say this legacy continues.
