Overview
|
Thomas Kelly High School is a general comprehensive high school with a number of magnet programs that include an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme and Metropolitan Studies Honors program. Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs include business and marketing, accounting, information technology/computer science, computer assisted drafting, cabinet making, A+ Network Design, and radio/TV broadcasting. Honors-level courses are offered in numerous subjects. Advanced Placement (AP) classes include English language and literature, Spanish language and literature, U.S. history, European history, Calculus A and B, Chinese, chemistry, biology, music and art. The AP program at Kelly has received recognition from CPS, with students taking over 400 AP tests in 2008. Other exemplary programs include AVID and a highly rated performing arts program that includes band, orchestra, choir, and drama.

The mission of Kelly High School is to provide all students with an engaging and rigorous curriculum in a safe environment, affording a gateway into creating a postsecondary educational or career plan for a productive life in society. Partnerships include the Brighton Park Neighborhood Council, GEAR UP, and United Credit Union.
