Overview

Roosevelt High School (RHS), located in the highly diverse, multi-ethnic community of Albany Park, serves students who trace their roots to 58 different countries and speak more than 30 languages. As a College Board EXCELerator School, our priority is to prepare students for postsecondary education and careers. In addition, RHS is a professional learning community of teachers and staff who collaborate to foster an academic milieu of critical thinkers. To implement this vision, we offer Advanced Placement (AP) and Honors courses, a College Career Resource Center, Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID), SpringBoard in English and Math, various support programs and numerous extracurricular activities.

Student leadership is valued and encouraged at Roosevelt. Schoolwide events include International Night, Teacher Appreciation Luncheon, and Homecoming, all student-driven. Students attend various leadership workshops to connect with other student leaders across the city and nation. These skills facilitate and enhance lifelong learning.
Statistics Demographics
As of 2008-2009, there were 1453 students enrolled at Roosevelt HS. 95.2% were low income Students. 16.8% were Special Education Students. 19.2% were Limited English Learners. As of 2008-2009, the largest demographic at Roosevelt HS was Hispanic. As of that time, this demographic made up 73.6% of the student population. The second greatest demographic was Black at 10.3%.
