Overview
|
Wells is divided into Smaller Learning Communities (SLCs) corresponding to the Freshman Academy, Public Service and Leadership Academy, and College & Career Academies offered in Logistics, Law & Public Safety and Teaching. Upon entering ninth grade, all students are placed in the Freshman Academy. Once students leave the Freshman Academy, they will enter Public Service and Leadership Academy (PLSA), based on their interest in Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC), or the College & Career Academy chosen during the High School application process. The College & Career Academies include exciting opportunities in transportation management through the Logistics Academy, honors curriculum for Law & Public Safety students, and training for students who want to teach in their own neighborhoods through the new Teaching Academy for future educators. Note: high achieving students may apply for entry into the Law Academy by meeting the required criteria listed on the application form. Honors and Advanced Placement (AP) classes are available to qualified 10th-, 11th- and 12th- grade students in English, history, biology, chemistry, and calculus.
