Kenwood Academy is a neighborhood high school offering a rigorous college prep curriculum and an accelerated magnet program in partnership with the University of Chicago. Located in the racially and economically diverse Hyde Park community, Kenwood provides a wide array of academic, leadership, and co-curricular opportunities including Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID). Students in the Kenwood-University of Chicago Accelerated Magnet Program take Honors, accelerated Honors and Advanced Placement (AP) courses in 15 subjects and take college courses at the University of Chicago or other universities during their junior and senior year. Kenwood Academy is recognized as a School of Distinction for its academic achievement and a Model School by the International Center for Leadership in Education. Kenwood Academy has been recognized by Newsweek and US News and World Report as a top high school.

Kenwood is an outstanding high school with a 40-year legacy of excellence. Kenwood Broncos attend top colleges and universities with 10 million dollars in merit scholarship awards. Kenwood has provided a caring, nurturing environment that has helped us to build lifelong learning and leadership skills.

As of 2008-2009, there were 1791 students enrolled at Kenwood HS. 79.1% were low income Students. 9.2% were Special Education Students. 1.2% were Limited English Learners.
