Chicago Public Schools will be holding the fourth annual Options for Knowledge Elementary School Fair this coming Saturday, October 1, 2011, at Malcolm X College, 1900 West Van Buren Street.
The event will take place from 9:00 a.m. to noon and is designed to provide parents with exposure to magnet and selective enrollment schools and programs citywide. Representatives from more than 50 schools will be on hand to provide information and answer questions from parents of students applying to Pre-K through 8th grade.
Information will also be available about the admissions policy for magnet and selective enrollment schools, as well as procedures that are designed to make the application process faster and easier for parents. Parents will have the option of applying online or using a paper application for all elementary magnet and selective schools and programs.
Starting October 1st, the Options for Knowledge guide will be available online at www.cpsoae.org (click "Apply" and "Application Materials.") The guide provides details about the application and selection procedures for each type of school; contains a copy of all paper applications; and is written in a straightforward, user-friendly format. Printed copies of the guide will be distributed later this month.
To obtain a list of schools participating in the fair, visit www.cpsoae.org.
