Parents, guardians, students and community members are invited to learn more about Chicago's newest public school options, including charter schools, by attending the 5th Annual New Schools EXPO, presented by the Chicago Public Schools and New Schools for Chicago.
The event takes place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28. The entire EXPO is indoors at Soldier Field, United Club Level One, 1410 South Museum Campus Drive. Admission to the EXPO is free, and free indoor parking is available. If you plan on taking the CTA
, a free trolley service between the Roosevelt CTA "L" station and the stadium is available.
At the Expo, you'll be able to talk with the leaders of more than 100 elementary and high schools and complete enrollment forms on the spot, well in advance of enrollment deadlines. Visit the New Schools website
for information about the materials to bring with you to enroll your student.
In addition to researching new school options, you'll also have the opportunity to attend workshops, attend a Town Hall forum moderated by Fox Chicago's Robin Robinson and meet Chicago Bears' Defensive Lineman Israel Idonije.
"Chicago families have many exciting and innovative public school options they can choose from where their children can receive a high quality education," says Atiyah Colbert a parent of a LEARN charter student. "The EXPO gives community members the opportunity to learn all about these schools and the amazing opportunities that they provide to Chicago's students."
