Student Teaching Program

Welcome to the Chicago Public Schools Student Teaching Program Portal

As defined by CPS, student teaching is the required full-time internship experience set by an Institution of Higher Education (IHE) preparation program for students seeking an education degree and/or educator state licensure. We have partnered with over 75 IHE preparation programs across the country to bring student teachers into our schools. Students enrolled in one of CPS’ IHE partnership programs are eligible to apply.

Students who wish to student teach in the district must complete the CPS Student Teaching application one semester before their anticipated internship start date. The CPS Student Teaching application opens for two terms, fall and spring. For more information, please see the Student Teaching Registration Guide.

Please note that the Step 1 application window for the Fall 2018 term is open from Tuesday, April 3, 2018 - Friday, May 25, 2018. Registration closes on Friday, May 25, 2018, at 12:00 pm CST. Step 2 instructions will be emailed to registered prospective student teachers by Thursday, May 31, 2018.
