Lend Your Voice to the Search for our Next CPS Leader

Dear CPS Colleagues, Families, and Supporters,

As you are likely aware, the search for our District’s next Superintendent/CEO is now underway, and we want you to be involved!

Over the next several weeks, the Chicago Board of Education will be hosting community meetings in every Elected School Board (ESB) district in the city to gather feedback from as many people as possible. You may have received communication about this already, inviting you to participate in one particular meeting. That email was based on the location of your child’s school, but we want to be clear that you are free to attend whatever meeting is most convenient for you.  

Below are details for all of the meetings that will be held during the month of May. Meetings for Districts 4 and 10 will be held in June, and that information will be shared as soon as it is finalized.

All meetings will be held in person, and all will include both Spanish and ASL translation.  

This information is also available on the Board of Education website. Again, you are welcome to attend whatever meeting is most convenient for you, whether that be in your community or in another part of the city. However, we strongly urge you to register for the meeting you choose to attend using the links above.  

We know that not everyone will be able to attend these meetings, so we have created these additional opportunities for you to share your voice: 

• Community Survey. A community survey is available here. This is an opportunity for you to share what you feel is working well in CPS and identify areas where you would like to see improvement.
• Focus Groups and On-Site Interviews. Representatives from Alma Advisory Group, the Board’s executive search partner, will visit select CPS locations to gather input from staff and community members on the next Superintendent/CEO. Details on these sessions will be provided soon. 
• Regular Updates. I encourage everyone to check the CPS BOE website regularly to monitor the status of the Superintendent/CEO search and learn more about the numerous opportunities to participate in the process.

Estimados colegas, familias y simpatizantes de las CPS: 

¡Como probablemente sabrán, la búsqueda del próximo superintendente/director ejecutivo (CEO, por sus siglas en inglés) del Distrito ha comenzado, y queremos su participación! 

Para obtener contribuciones de la mayor cantidad de gente posible, la Junta llevará a cabo en las próximas semanas reuniones comunitarias en cada distrito electoral asociado con la Junta de Educación de Chicago. Es posible que ya hayan recibido un comunicado sobre esto, invitándoles a participar en una reunión en particular. Dichas invitaciones fueron preparadas de acuerdo a las direcciones físicas de las escuelas de sus niños, pero queremos que entiendan que pueden asistir a cualquier reunión les sea más conveniente.  

A continuación tienen los detalles sobre todas las reuniones programadas para el mes de mayo. Las reuniones para el Distrito 4 y el Distrito 10 serán en junio, y se compartirán los detalles sobre estas tan pronto se finalicen. 

Todas las reuniones serán presenciales, y todas incluirán interpretación al español y el lenguaje de señas estadounidense.

Reiteramos que están bienvenidos a asistir a cualquier reunión les sea más conveniente, sea esta en su comunidad u otra parte de la ciudad. Sin embargo, les recomendamos enfáticamente inscribirse para las reuniones que decidan asistir usando los enlaces anteriores. 

Sabemos que no todos podrán asistir a estas reuniones, y por lo tanto hemos creado estas oportunidades adicionales para que compartan sus voces: 

• Encuesta comunitaria: Se puede acceder a una encuesta comunitaria por medio de este enlace. Esta será una oportunidad para compartir lo que piensan que hacen bien las CPS e identificar áreas donde les gustaría ver mejoras. 
• Grupos focales y entrevistas de campo: Los representantes de Alma Advisory Group –que colabora con la Junta en la búsqueda ejecutiva del próximo líder de nuestro Distrito– pasarán por varios espacios de las CPS para hablar con empleados escolares y miembros de la comunidad y obtener sus ideas sobre el próximo  superintendente/director ejecutivo. Los detalles de estas sesiones se publicarán pronto.  
• Actualizaciones regulares: Les exhorto a todos a visitar regularmente el sitio web de la Junta de Educación de las CPS para mantenerse al tanto de la condición de la búsqueda de un superintendente/director ejecutivo y saber más sobre las numerosas oportunidades para participar en el proceso.
