COVID-19 Data

During Summer 2023, this page will report Total Cases among staff working in schools over the summer and students attending CPS summer programs, including summer school. Please keep in mind that numbers are dynamic and subject to change.

Daily District Cases

Adults Reported Positive: Adult cases reported to the district through the CPS contact tracing self report form, regardless of investigation status. This will include cases where an investigation has not yet started, is in progress, or closed. Because cases still under investigation may not be confirmed, case counts are dynamic and subject to change.
Students Reported Positive: Student cases reported to the district through the CPS contact tracing self report form, regardless of investigation status. This will include cases where an investigation has not yet started, or is in progress, or closed. Because cases still under investigation may not be confirmed, case counts are dynamic and subject to change.
Actionable Cases: CPS only reports Actionable Cases on our dashboards. Actionable Cases represent cases where an individual either tested positive while inside a district building or tested positive while outside a district building but entered a building while they may have been infectious. Non-Actionable Cases are cases where an individual tested positive while outside a district building and did not enter a district building while potentially infectious.
School Governance: District schools are those operated by CPS and staffed by CPS employees. Non-district schools are those operated under charter, contract, ALOP or SAFE governance.

June 8, 2023

CPS archived the 2022-23 School Year dashboard and published the 2023 Summer Dashboard.
CPS has discontinued the collection and publishing of the following data on the 2023 Summer Dashboard:
- Eligible Student Vaccination Rates and CPS Employee Vaccination Stats: Because only a portion of our student body and District staff participate in summer programs, and because programs vary by dates and length, it is impossible to determine an accurate vaccination rate for either students or staff.
- Students Opted In To Testing and Staff and Student COVID-19 Screening Testing: The District has discontinued the in-school COVID-19 testing program. Out of an abundance of caution to protect our school communities, CPS was one of the few remaining districts in the United States to use a program that regularly tested asymptomatic individuals at school. CPS has completed its transition to a rapid at-home test program where rapid tests are available for free to any student or staff member at any CPS District-managed school.
