Explore what a typical school day will look like for students during remote learning.

School Day Examples

What will your day look like during remote learning?

During remote learning, K-12 students should expect to be learning for the full school day and will receive live real-time instruction for a minimum of three hours per day. In addition to live instruction, students will also have access to small group instruction, activities with their classmates, and meaningful individual support from their teacher for the remainder of the school day.

Real Time vs Independent Engagement

To ensure that remote learning provides children a comparable instructional experience to that of in-person learning, teachers will be available to children during the entirety of the instructional day. We recognize that it is not developmentally appropriate to expect children to participate in six hours of direct screen time. The table below summarizes thresholds for real time Synchronous (Real Time) and Asynchronous (Independent) engagement. Independent engagement could include small group instruction, small groups, independent work, or additional meaningful supports and interventions.
