A Message from the Principal

Carver Elementary is committed to providing every student with a comprehensive and balanced foundation for lifelong success. Our guiding Mission is: We are committed to providing ALL of our students with rigorous curricula and high-quality instruction in a safe environment; where both academic and social emotional learning skills are priorities, therefore, preparing each Challenger for success in college, career, and civic life. Carver is proud to be a Fine Performing Arts Magnet School, integrating arts instruction throughout the curriculum. We offer specialized opportunities that include: a comprehensive gifted program for students demonstrating advanced aptitude and full-day kindergarten and Pre-K programs to give our youngest learners a strong start. We ensure students are encouraged to excel academically and socially in every program. We believe education is a shared effort. Carver maintains vital partnerships that enrich the student experience and support our whole-child mission. Key collaborators include Youth Guidance, JPA, and Metropolitan Health, which provide essential social, emotional, and health services. The Altgeld Alumni Association, Abejide Toure, and the Altgeld-Murray Advisory Board, which help us connect students to resources and opportunities within the Altgeld Gardens community and beyond. Through this balanced approach, Carver Elementary is dedicated to preparing every Challenger for success in college, career, and civic life.
