School-Based New Teacher Mentor

The School-Based New Teacher Mentor (SB NTM) supports teachers new to the district or the teaching profession at their school site. The New Teacher Mentor aims to develop, retain, and sustain new teachers to ensure they feel supported and valued to stay in the district and profession. They are selected by their school leaders.

School-Based New Teacher Mentors receive an annual stipend. The stipend is paid over two payments and is dependent on the number of mentees a SB NTM is assigned, anticipated to range from $1,700 to $2,300 annually. To qualify for the centrally funded stipend, school-based mentors must meet more than 75% of program expectations. Failure to meet more than 75% of program expectations will result in mentors being offboarded, which will result in a decreased stipend payment or no payment.
