Teacher Residency Mentor

Teacher Residency Mentor The CPS Teacher Residency Program prepares select pre-service teachers through a rigorous full-year classroom apprenticeship with higher-education coursework in one of the following tracks:

  • Special Education
  • Early Childhood Education
  • Bilingual Education
  • Dance
  • STEM
  • Theater
  • Physical Education

Resident Mentors provide support to bridge the gap between theory and practice throughout the residency. Resident Teachers are staffed into a full-time role in CPS while completing undergraduate or graduate degree coursework and teacher training. Upon completion of the program, residents are guaranteed a teaching position in a CPS school.

Eligibility

Three years teaching experience Residency Mentor Teachers must have a proficient rating or higher on their most recent REACH evaluation. School Administration Approval

If interested, the first step is to reach out to your admin and have them apply to be a Training Site.

Mentor teachers recommended by their school leader (both new or returning to the role) must then complete this resident mentor questionnaire by the 2nd priority deadline of March 20th. However, some submissions will continue to be reviewed on a rolling basis.
