Meet a Terrific Member of the Libby Elementary School Class of 2025
14 May 2025
Fabian has impressed many of the adults at his school with his perseverance, positivity, and strong academic performance.

Ms. Ingrid Smith, a school counselor at Libby Elementary School, has two pieces of advice for eighth-grade student Fabian: don’t change who you are, and reach beyond what you could ever imagine because you are going to do great things. This advice reflects Fabian’s entire experience at Libby, as he has impressed many of the adults at his school with his perseverance, positivity, and strong academic performance.
He is sure to continue building upon these great qualities as a freshman at King College Prep next year. We interviewed him to hear more about his experience at Libby—from kindergarten to now. Get to know more about him below.
Can you share more about your interests both in and out of the classroom?
My favorite subjects are math, science, reading, and a little bit of writing. I’m in algebra, and I’m getting ready for my big test with that. And, in science, I’m learning about magnetic fields. Outside of school, I enjoy sports, video games, and spending time with my family. The sports I like playing the most are basketball and soccer.
Since you’ve been a Libby student since kindergarten, can you share more about how you’ve grown over the years?
My fourth-grade year was definitely a rough year because I didn’t want to go to school and didn’t pay attention. I feel like I have come so far since then. I’m way better about keeping track of everything and am not lazy anymore. I do my work and I listen to my teachers.
What strategies have you used to maintain a strong academic performance?
My family has been very important. My mom reminds me all the time to do my work and pay attention, and not spend too much time playing games.
What stands out as some of your favorite memories at Libby?
My first-grade year and this year have been my favorites. In first grade, I had wonderful teachers who helped me do all my work and earn good grades. This year, a lot of great teachers have been helping me as well.
What do you see yourself doing as an adult?
I see myself in the marketing business. I’m a really big fan of marketing. I know that I can start working toward that in high school by signing up for a business class.
What advice would you give to Libby’s future eighth-graders?
Pay attention to your teachers, do your work, and treat everyone with respect.
If you could describe your time at Libby in one word, what would it be?
I would say that it’s been an adventure. I started as a straight-A student, and then around fourth grade, I was getting all Fs. Then, I really started focusing on my schoolwork again, and now I’m getting back up to the top.
