New | Leave Code 85/87 Workflow in Aspen
The Office of Student Support & Engagement (OSSE), is implementing a new workflow in Aspen for Leave Codes 85 and 87. The new workflow will be available in Aspen on May 8th, 2026.
The new workflow will ensure only students who meet Leave Code definitions and requirements are withdrawn, while ensuring accurate documentation is collected, and strengthen compliance for student withdrawals.
School staff with the Status Coordinator role will have access to initiate the new withdrawal workflow requests, and school leaders with the Principal role, will be required to review, approve, and attest to each submission before it is finalized.
- Leave Code 85 applies only to 16‑year‑old students enrolled by a parent or guardian in a state‑recognized GED or job‑skills program, and an acceptance letter is required.
- Leave Code 87 applies to students 17 or older who are withdrawing from school. A Consent to Withdraw form is required, signed by a parent or guardian for 17‑year‑olds, or by the student if they are 18 or older.
School leaders should reference the Leave Code 85/87: School Leader Review Process document, and School Clerks should reference the Leave Code 85/87: Submission Process .
