In the Skyline 6-8 courses, the curriculum is developed to be student-centered and to gradually release responsibility to students so that they can assume ownership of their own learning. To achieve equity and cultural relevance, the curriculum’s goals, content, activities, and assessments are driven by data specific to Chicago students and are designed to speak to the diverse experiences and backgrounds of Chicago students. The curriculum is also developed to be responsive to current issues and societal topics that engage CPS students in social and civic life beyond classroom walls.
