In this course, students work with numbers within 20; use addition and subtraction with linear measurement; understand place value to read, write and compare numbers; add and subtract within 1000; use place value with money, linear measurement and time; collect and analyze data; and build the foundation for multiplication and division. Throughout Grade 2 students work to increase their flexibility with addition and subtraction to support their ability to fluently add and subtract within 20 using mental strategies and know from memory all sums of two one-digit numbers.
