The major purpose of Grade 8 Algebra is to formalize and extend the mathematics that students learned in previous Skyline Mathematics Courses, focusing on linear and exponential functions, solving systems of equations and inequalities, and analyzing data. The Mathematical Practice Standards apply throughout each course and, together with the content standards recommended by the CPS Middle Grades Algebra Blueprint, create mathematical learning experiences based upon reasoning and sense-making, building perseverance and problem-solving skills, and rich in mathematical discourse.
