Course Overview
In Skyline Social Science Grade 3: Communities: Near and Far, students will learn how communities share similarities and differences across the United States and around the world and explore how communities impact students’ identities. They will learn how communities near and far exchange and share ideas, practices, and resources. Students will explore how people have shaped and been shaped by their communities and investigate the ways in which communities are impacted by their history, environment, governments, diverse cultures, and economy.

Introducing the Revised Skyline Social Science Curriculum
Starting in Fall 2026, new units will be posted in Safari Montage, linked to here. Timing will allow teachers to review and backwards plan.
Expect stronger alignment to the CPS Social Science Culturally Responsive Inquiry Arc Framework, a cross-disciplinary approach with Skyline ELA, and improvements based on teacher and student feedback.
