Course Overview
In Skyline Social Science Kindergarten, My Social World, students explore how their sense of self is shaped by experiences in their social world—including their classroom, family, and community.
They will consider that they have experiences unique to them and their families, as well as common experiences shared by a community and nation. Children will investigate themes of identity, diversity, cooperation, and civic agency as they learn about significant people, places, and events of the past and of the present. They will also begin to use tools such as primary sources and maps to learn about the world around them and to understand that people view the world from many different points of view.

Introducing the Revised Skyline Social Science Curriculum
Starting in Fall 2026, new units will be posted in Safari Montage, linked to here. Timing will allow teachers to review and backwards plan.
Expect stronger alignment to the CPS Social Science Culturally Responsive Inquiry Arc Framework, a cross-disciplinary approach with Skyline ELA, and improvements based on teacher and student feedback.
