1.3 Regulatory Codes, Ordinances and Standards

Applicable Codes, Ordinances and Standards

The following is a list of applicable building codes that apply to all projects. This list consists of the major Federal, State and Local codes that apply. It is not all encompassing with regards to specific or specialized systems or spaces. It is the duty of the Architect and Engineer of Record to complete a Code analysis for each project to ensure they are addressing all Codes, Statutes and Regulations of the controlling agencies / authority having jurisdiction. When the statement “Latest Version” is listed below references the version of the code or standard which applies to the project based on permitting and LEED or other 3rd party rating system requirements. This is not intended to be the most recently published version because of differences in adoption cycles of the code and standards. Additionally, the list includes other Governmental Agencies that have requirements that will apply to specific projects.

Design Standards

The following is a compiled list of applicable design standards that apply to the overall projects. This is not an inclusive, complete list. It is the duty of the Architect and Engineer of Record to complete a Code analysis and confirm all applicable Codes and provide a Code Matrix. This list consists of major Governmental Agencies, Professional Organizations, Institutes, Societies and other resources used routinely by design professionals. Refer to the CPS Master Specifications for each particular item for a more complete list of specific regulations and standards that need to be met for each item.

Agencies and Professional Organizations

The following is a list of applicable Federal, State and Local Agencies, Boards and Bureaus and Professional Organizations, Institutes, Societies or Associations that may have governing rules or standards that may apply to the project scope of work. It is the duty of the Architect and Engineer of Record to complete a Code analysis for each project to ensure they are addressing all Codes, Statutes and Regulations of the controlling agencies / authority having jurisdiction.

Environmental Rules, Regulations and Standards

The following rules, regulations and standards relating to environmental conditions typically encountered during construction of educational facilities, including, but not limited to, ACM, LBP, mold, universal/chemical waste, USTs, and unsuitable soils are incorporated herein by reference. The MEC is responsible for verifying compliance with the most recent versions of the following, as well as incorporating new standards in consultation with CPS.
