Interior Lighting
MEP projects typically only address lighting in select spaces impacted by other components of MEP work. Lighting replacement or ballast replacement shall be considered when fixtures are determined to be T12. Although CPS standards now identify use of LED fixtures, existing T8s are acceptable to remain if in good condition. Broader lighting upgrades for the building are typically handled under a Lighting (LTG) project. Where applicable:
- Replacement of lighting to be made with light fixtures per current CPS Standards
- Verify lighting levels meet all applicable Codes and CPS Standards
- Provide lighting controls per CPS Standards and applicable Energy Codes.
- New light fixtures shall replace existing fixtures at the same location at the highest extent possible so that existing feeders are re-used. Mounting method shall match the existing to the highest extent possible.
For complete system replacements, see Volume 3, Chapter 9.2.4, Lighting Systems.
Exterior Lighting
Replacement of exterior lighting to be done if included in the OM Scope. Replacement to be made with fixtures approved in the CPS Standards and Specifications. All new building mounted exterior lighting to be wall mounted LED fixtures.
For complete system replacements, refer to Volume 3, Chapter 9.2.5, Exterior Lighting Systems.
Egress Lighting
Egress lighting (exit and emergency lighting) shall be evaluated as applicable per project scope. Refer to the CPS Design Guidelines for additional information.
