New Chicago Public Schools (CPS) building structures shall be designed in accordance with the structural requirements of the Chicago Building Code (CBC). The structural design shall consider the life expectancy, long term performance and maintenance requirements for CPS building.
CPS buildings are primarily educational spaces and shall be designed in a manner that will not negatively impact the intended use case. The structural design shall carefully contemplate the serviceability requirements for educational spaces, particularly noise transmission due to adjacent spaces or mechanical equipment.
