The selection of materials shall favor materials that are locally manufactured and harvested or extracted, have a low embodied carbon, high recycled content, and have a positive environmental impact as outlined in Environment Product Declarations. Materials and products shall also be able to provide an ingredient disclosure of contents and favor those that do not include toxic ingredients as demonstrated by Health Product Declarations or other industry certifications. All materials shall contain no or low volatile organic compounds and pass emissions requirements as required by LEED.
Dedicated Recycling collection areas accessible to waste haulers and building occupants are required. Recyclable materials include mixed paper, corrugated cardboard, glass, plastics, and batteries, mercury-containing lamps, and electronic waste.
