It is imperative the MEC understand the environmental conditions of the site in advance of conducting environmental design work. The MEC is responsible to conduct an environmental record review related to all areas to be impacted by the CPS scope of work to determine if additional assessments are required in order to develop design specifications and drawings for the project. The MEC shall obtain any information regarding the potential presence of underground storage tanks (USTs) or any other historical or current environmental conditions at the school. The MEC typically reviews the following environmental assessment documents on file or generates them when necessary for the project:
- Legacy mechanical plans denoting former USTs on site; and
- Environmental Reports including, but not limited to:
- Phase I Environmental Site Assessment
- Phase II Environmental Site Assessment
- UST Reports
- Asbestos Inspections or Asbestos Management Plans
- Lead Paint Report
- Chemical Waste Inspection Report
- Geophysical Surveys
- Waste Records
