9.2.10 Video Distribution System (MMTV)

• These guidelines provide information to assist in the design of the cabling infrastructure for a video distribution system.
• The Video Distribution System is shown on the Electrical Drawings. Separate drawings are not to be submitted.
• The design professional shall show the school video distribution device locations, riser diagrams, and/ or details to depict the conduit/cabling requirements for the Video Distribution System.
• Use CPS Standard Details unless otherwise instructed.
• Work Included:
• The design professional shall show the television/video monitor outlet locations.
• The design professional shall show riser diagrams and/or details to depict the cabling/ conduit requirements.
• The design professional shall provide a duplex receptacle adjacent to each television outlet.
• Work Not Included:
• Video distributions or multi-media management equipment

Coordinate and cross-reference related sections:

• General Conditions and Division 1 Specifications.
• Coordinate with architectural furnishings and equipment such as chalkboards, marker boards, tackboards, etc. for outlet location.
• Related Division 26 XX XX and 27 XX XX Sections.

Provide a television/video monitor outlet in the following locations:

• Aquatic Center
• Principal’s Office
• Assistant Principal’s Office
• Main Office
• Gymnatorium/Gymnasium
• Library/Media Center
• Multi-Purpose Room
• Cafeteria
• Staff Lounge
• Other spaces as designated per programmatic requirements as dictated by CPS

Television/video monitor outlets (MMTV) shall consist of an F-type coax connector, two CAT6e data jacks for a Wireless Access Point. Provide a duplex technology receptacle adjacent to each out.

• Provide an RG-6 coaxial cable from each outlet to the MDF room and terminate in an F-type connector patch panel in MDF distribution rack number 3. Where the distance from the outlet to the MDF room exceeds 500’, consult with the Managing Architect/Engineer.
• From each television/video monitor outlet, provide two CAT6e cables for Wire Access Point to the nearest concentrator enclosure or MDF / IDF. Terminate in a CAT6e patch panel in a concentrator enclosure or MDF / IDF.
• Identify and label each coaxial cable at each end.
• For Additions/Annexes Only: Where the existing school has an MDF or video distribution system, provide a RG-11 coaxial cable in conduit to connect the addition and existing school’s video distribution systems. The control lead cables for the addition/annex shall be extended to the existing school’s multimedia management system. The control lead cabling shall be compatible with the existing system.

• Video cabling may be run in the same conduit as the voice and data cabling. For separate cabling, conduit shall be 3/4” minimum size.
• Provide a 4” conduit from the MDF room to the property line at the point of service for cable television (CATV) service. Coordinate with the CATV service provider for the school. Service shall be routed underground in PVC conduit, encased in concrete.
• For Additions/Annexes Only: Provide a 2” conduit from the MDF room to the new IDF.

Provide a drawing legend for the Video Distribution System devices:

• Television/video monitor outlet locations.
