Draperies
The use of draperies are in limited applications within School Programs. There are three distinct specifications (noted in italics) to address the various drapery types and are based on the following program applications:
- Auditorium Houses will require Stage Curtains, Rigging and Control systems. The draperies and valance at the front of the stage are typically velour, whereas the mid stage curtains and backdrops are black-out fabric or scrims. Coordination with the Theater consultant will be required.
- Standalone Black Box Theaters will require Rigging and Control Systems. The draperies can be black out fabric or Black velour fabric. Coordination with the Theater consultant will be required.
- Exterior Windows within an Auditorium House will use Drapery Track and Accessories which provide a manually drawn drapery that extends to the floor or below the sill. The fabric should match the front of stage curtains. Consideration should be given to the best coverage of the windows to minimize any light gaps.
- Dark Rooms will require Room Dividing Curtains that utilize a ceiling mounted track with black out drapery and a short valance attached to the track.
- Flexible Performance Classrooms will require Room Dividing Curtains that utilize a ceiling mounted track system with black, mock velour fabric. The track should be mounted such that a circulation path around the room is provided between the walls and the audience area. In effect creating a Black Box. The drapery should not block any signage indicating the exits.
- CTE Health Science Classrooms will require Room Dividing Curtains that utilize a ceiling mounted track system with solid or patterned fabric and a mesh top (similar to cubicle curtains in a Medical Facility).
- Student Services – Care Rooms may require Room Dividing Curtains that utilize a ceiling mounted track system with solid or patterned fabric and a mesh top (similar to cubicle curtains in a Medical Facility).
- Digital Media & Broadcast Technology Classrooms may require Room Dividing Curtains that utilize a ceiling mounted track with Green Screen drapery material. The drapery will need to be taut when pulled into position with an opportunity to tie off the ends.
