Parking needs shall be determined on an individual project basis with CPS and the City of Chicago Department of Planning and Development (DPD) based on Full-Time Employee (FTE) requirements. Where possible provide parking capacity that is 40% below the base ratios recommended by the Parking Consultants Council, as shown in the Institute of Transportation Engineers’ Transportation Planning Handbook, 3rd edition, Tables 18-2 through 18-4 Parking lots are not generally designed for students and shall be coordinated closely with the school and stakeholders. All CPS parking lots shall:
- Include ADA parking stalls, in compliance with City of Chicago accessibility regulations, located near the main accessible entrance.
- Provide a standard ADA van stall and required signs for ADA van parking.
- Provide an accessible route from all ADA stalls to site features and main accessible entrances.
- Designate 5% of all parking spaces as preferred parking for low-emitting and fuel-efficient vehicles, located near the main accessible entrance. Additionally install electrical vehicle supply equipment for 2% of all parking spaces.
